al karama

we had an impromptu night shoot at the karama district. in english translation, meaning dignity, karama is a residential district and most populous area in dubai. most people living in a 2-square kilometre area are expats. al karama is well known for cheap furniture stores and sale of covert counterfeit branded goods.

we took two hours for long exposure shots along the old apartment blocks called hamdan colony. we've met curious and irritating residents, death-ray stares, dark alleys and kacharas (trash).

all the shots were taken using bulb setting on small apertures (f11-f22), mounted on a tripod, 10-20mm uwa lens with ND4 filter.
