olivia
olivia have a very hectic schedule. wife of a photographer-friend, she was able to find time to be our model. a half-filipina and half-german, she decided for a lady-pirate and goth-mannequin look for this session.taken at the abandoned building in the heart of naif, deira, dubai, lo and behold... olivia.

michelle
michelle, an online buddy of my colleague who were invited to be our model to a harsh environment of hatta. in her twenties, she agreed to face the risky terrain on heels and sweaty temperature. the only thing that bugged her was the hovering wasp in the area.though the time was short and lost my mojo during the shoot, i gave her a few nice shots of her. we'll jam again, michelle.

hatta pools
last week, my colleague were planning to do another model shoot. one of our friends suggested that we visit the hatta pools. we took the opportunity during public holiday and went for early morning adventure ride towards hatta. after the two-hour journey with three 4x4 vehicles (plus one car), we drove across the hajar mountains and reached our destination. the desolated and dried landscapes gave a calm impression and i was fascinated by its beauty. the only sad part here was there were graffiti on the rocks and careless visitors did not take care of the trash. headache sets in due to rising temperature.i did not include the best photos here since we're going to show it on the upcoming exhibit in manila. we will announce it soon. :P

al qasr
a birthday celebrant invited us to spend a few drinks inside the arabesque-looking hotel called al qasr. one of three hotels of madinat jumeirah (jumeirah city), which managed by jumeirah group, al qasr is a mansion style hotel surrounded by water, ancient windtowers, pools, and serene waterways.we stayed at koubba bar and found a spot to do our nightscapades. the manager told us not to shoot and realized later on that we have permission from the top to have our "sessions" since the celebrant works at the same company.
carpe diem (or night that is...)
shots were taken using bulb setting on small apertures (f8-f16), mounted on a tripod. lens used were 10-20mm uwa lens with ND4 filter, 18-70mm kit lens, and 70-200mm vr 2.8 (aka longnose).

al karama
we had an impromptu night shoot at the karama district. in english translation, meaning dignity, karama is a residential district and most populous area in dubai. most people living in a 2-square kilometre area are expats. al karama is well known for cheap furniture stores and sale of covert counterfeit branded goods.we took two hours for long exposure shots along the old apartment blocks called hamdan colony. we've met curious and irritating residents, death-ray stares, dark alleys and kacharas (trash).
all the shots were taken using bulb setting on small apertures (f11-f22), mounted on a tripod, 10-20mm uwa lens with ND4 filter.

the bikes
last weekend, we were called to take a group hug and portrait photos of a group called "filipino riders of dubai". members brought their street and sport bikes for the early morning shoot. the session was delayed due to heavy fog and it was cleared later in the morning. the sun was already up that i had no choice but to shoot on harsh lighting...first, i introduce to you the bikes...
