dolphin bay

special thanks to nuno for taking the snaps. click the image to zoom; mouseover the left and right side to navigate other images
we had an opportunity to visit atlantis' dolphin bay. it was said to be the largest man-made dolphin habitats in the world. we had our chance to oversee the place before the hotel opens. it was an exhilarating experience because it was our first time to interact with these intellegent and playful mammals. we were divided into two groups, three visitors for each creature.
the trainors, santiago and aimee introduced us to blade and sol, two of the twenty eight bottlenose dolphins brought from solomon islands. they were gentle and cooperative to us. they danced, fetched the ball, flipped and we got lots of hugs and kisses.
be the first to experience at atlantis, palm jumeirah.

khan murjan

also in wafi city, last july, we visited a newly-opened mall called khan murjan and it is situated underground and connects from wafi city to raffles hotel. the name khan murjan was a dwelling place in baghdad during the early times for travelling merchants and scholars.
once there, you will smell the aroma of incense and hear the soft arab music while strolling the shops.

seville's

we had a leisure brunch over the weekend at seville's which is located at wafi city mall.
this spanish resto and bar is quite empty during midday and we had a chance to take some shots of the place. the inviting ambience gives warmth, together with an earthly colors and spanish interior. as we're waiting for their specialty, the seafood paella, we grabbed calamares as appetizer and a pint of guinness beer instead of sangria. we ended up with the brazo de blah blah blah (i forgot the name but it's a dessert with ice cream in the middle).
simple yet romantic treat.

cool bus stop

click the image to zoom; mouseover the left and right side to navigate other images
i have been seeing these few metallic lunch boxes for months between bus stops. i kept wondering on what on earth they're doing that time. then road authorities declared it as an air-conditioned bus stop shelters.
dubai became the first city to have these cool shelters (well it's unreasonable to put it up on oslo or some place cool) in the world. while waiting for someone, i tried to check it out.
it was intended to keep passengers cool while waiting for the bus to stop especially during summer. the moment you opened the sliding door, it blew air from above just to keep the cool air inside. the metal seats are somewhat uncomfortable to sit on due to low temperature. just imagine to stick a very cold spoon on your tongue. another downside of these tin cans, they're a bit far from the bus stop itself and hard to look through the glass when your inside.
overall, they're still a comfort in this cosmopolitan city.
