palm jumeirah nightscape

nikon d300, 17mm, f8, set of exposures between 5secs – 30secs, iso100

i have been busy for the past few days. my relatives visited us here in dubai and they wanted to see unique tourist spots. and so, we decided to book a room with an amazing view.

this was taken at the balcony on 20th floor of atlantis, palm jumeirah. this man-made marvel was built into a shape of a palm tree wherein the villas are located at the fronds (lights in the foreground) and apartments in the “trunk” section (middle frame). the roads and rail system can be seen in the middle  up to the crescent. it encircles the whole island where present and future hotels are located.

using a tripod, i took different exposures with same aperture (f8) and later merged the images using photomatix pro software. i imported the image to photoshop and made some finishing touches like cropping, sharpen and color adjustments.

i also converted the image to black and white via silver efex pro.
