save the best for last (part 2)

in continuation from my year-ender post, here are some unpublished photos of 2011.

travel. i got a chance to visit two countries this year. one was when we visited kerala, india, a beautiful yet one of the most wettest places on earth. with its backwaters, mountains, cascade of lush green vegetation, and rich indian culture, it was a photo fodder for tourists and avid photographers. another country was my homeland, the philippines. it has been three years since i went back home. although the trip was short, it was a fruitful vacation.

fantastic panoramics. since i’m much into landscape, i really enjoyed extending the view of a normal image ratio. post-processing panorama was easier with software and built-in features of camera.

etsetera. new gear, awards, sessions, phototreks and published works… i am glad that photography this year was better for me.

save the best for last (part 1)

every year is made and rounded up the moments captured through the times we live in. as 2011 closes, i collected bits and pieces of memories from my archives.

unlike other blogs and feeds, i will be featuring more unpublished shots that happened throughout the year. not in particular order, i present the pictures of 2011.

happy new year everyone!

people. i love taking snaps of human beings. i go to events, weddings, photo sessions, on a busy street, to the mountains, or just about everywhere! whether they were posed or candid, these moments caught my attention and relayed emotions to the viewers.

surreal world of infrared. this year, i finally decided to convert my trusty old “nikki” into an infrared camera. i’m quite a rookie in this field and hoping more false color shots in the future.

kids and babies. yes, they are cute and cuddly but it was one of the most challenging tasks i’ve done in photography. most of them are delicate to handle and some needed a lot of patience. a milestone for me this year when i photographed a newborn and twins.

jeremy – two weeks old

aidan and adam – 6-month old twins

bella – one year old

cholo – basketball session

it keeps piling up.

this month, things are going to be really busy for shutterbugs like me. weddings, events and parties will be popping left and right. i already have a huge backlog of photos since july. chances of digging the photos and posting it here will be slim. i wish there’s someone who can process the photos for me. :)

anyway, i was behind the trail when we were trekking the periyar tiger reserve in lake periyar, india. the rain stopped and i managed to pop out my lens while we hiked towards the lake. as we got near, i managed to isolate our boatman from the rest of group and pressed the shutter.

patience has its rewards.

i was hesitant not to bring my infrared-converted camera on my vacation. adding extra kilo on my luggage is hard and tricky for travelling but knowing philippines have lots of foliage and fluffy clouds, i took the risk.

i made the right decision.

as i mentioned in my previous post, this photo was taken at one of the hemicyle within the memorial building. the lone tree stands beside the fin walls of the hemicycle. based on the weather that day, i processed the image in a gloomy yet tranquil setting.
