after years of service, it was time for nikki (d70s) converted to infrared photography. it was better for me to modify the camera instead of using mounting ir lens filters. it gave me convenience to compose the shot in a jiffy without the hassles of security guards. i don’t know much about this field and while still learning the ropes, i tried to capture a few trees inside burjuman mall on a slow day.

i usually don’t cross the borders of digital art. i try to post-process images as natural as possible. it is time consuming because it needs to match between two or more things to get it right. however, if the location or scene is impossible to recreate then i opt for photo manipulation.
my partner and i just got back from a pirate-themed birthday party and took pictures of her as souvenir. i used a single flash bounced to the ceiling to eliminate shadows . later, i cleaned up the background, looked for a suitable image (special thanks to wallchan for the wallpaper) and patched it there. definitely, the lighting, color and size did not match. so i made adjustments and added a few extras to make it work.

at long last, i witnessed a total lunar eclipse in my lifetime. on previous occassions, i managed not to capture this opportunity…either i fell asleep, cloudy conditions, or missed the timings.

sometimes, waiting for someone at the loo will take you anywhere. as i waited for my colleague for a pee, i managed to take a few steps while at the at.mosphere and saw these bottles of liquor behind the frosted glass. located on the 122nd floor of burj khalifa, it currently holds the record for the world’s highest restaurant. it said to be one of the finest luxury dining experience in town… so expect a high-altitude price with a minimum spend of aed200pax on snack and drinks at the lounge area and aed450 dining pleasure for two.
i quite like the outcome of the blurred bottles behind the frosted glass, somewhat indifferent from the usual sharp and well-focused shots. the scene looked like mysterious vials from some science-fiction horror film.

one of the most significant feature of the yas hotel was the curvilinear glass and steel covering known as the grid shell. designed by hani rashid and lise anne couture, it embodies the aesthetic of speed and the geometries form the basis of ancient islamic art and craft traditions.
it was one of the connecting structures between two buildings of the yas hotel. due to haze and mid-day harsh lighting, using adobe lightroom, i converted the image to black and white and bumped the contrast to make the structure stand out.
