over the past few days, we were visiting one of the most beautiful architectural wonders of abu dhabi, the sheikh zayed grand mosque. it never ceases to amaze me from exterior to interior look of the structure. from outside, you will see the obvious: magnificent and geometrically lined-up domes, pillars and arches.

recently, i’ve seen a lot of stories where people being fined or arrested for taking photographs of places which are forbidden in the country. i was one of them.

yet another item to cross off my bucket list.

one of my favorite rock bands, metallica performed at yas arena, abu dhabi. it was a rare opportunity to see them. we endured the queue, traffic, hunger and pain standing just to see, hear and headbanging with them. quite a performance as the crowd went wild!

the grid shell 0

one of the most significant feature of the yas hotel was the curvilinear glass and steel covering known as the grid shell. designed by hani rashid and lise anne couture, it embodies the aesthetic of speed and the geometries form the basis of ancient islamic art and craft traditions.
