i never tried star trails before until i joined a recent photography competition. we were given certain cameras and the first challenge was taking photographs on a low-light desert landscape. while waiting for my “competition” gear to expose the scene on the north, i tried my personal cam facing south.
there are ways of taking star trails and you can find them all over the internet. the most common are single exposure shot and set of short exposures for stacking. i used the latter since light pollution caused by big cities was strong. south was the only direction with less glow and took a lot of 30-sec exposures and later combined it using a specialised software such as startax.

it was quite unusual to see a heavy equipment parked in the middle of the desert. this crawler was probably waiting for a parcel of land to be moved and built for a new man-made structure. dubai at that time was expanding. construction sites are everywhere and this lonely dunes of bawadi was not an exception.

last weekend, we took raby, our small pet dog to the vet for his annual anti-rabies vaccination. after the visit, we rewarded him (and us, of course) for a walk at jumeirah beach residences. while having breakfast, we saw the sign that pets are not allowed to wander anymore. i guess we’re going back to the outskirts and let him wander.
