i mentioned in my previous post that i joined a photography competition called sony digital imaging challenge. overall, there are four tasks that the we need to complete. the first challenge was to take a long exposure shot on a desert landscape using only a tripod and the sony a55 camera. the shot submitted must be unretouched and we are not allowed to post-process the image. in this photo, i used a two-minute exposure and the lighted tent as the subject.

i never tried star trails before until i joined a recent photography competition. we were given certain cameras and the first challenge was taking photographs on a low-light desert landscape. while waiting for my “competition” gear to expose the scene on the north, i tried my personal cam facing south.
there are ways of taking star trails and you can find them all over the internet. the most common are single exposure shot and set of short exposures for stacking. i used the latter since light pollution caused by big cities was strong. south was the only direction with less glow and took a lot of 30-sec exposures and later combined it using a specialised software such as startax.

i like watching apocalyptic movies. the ultimate destruction and the sudden twist of fate of mankind gives me the shivers. once, it crossed my mind that the world suddenly died when i woke up and got out of bed.

before summer came in 2008, abba asked us to update her model portfolio. it was the first time we collaborated for an outdoor shoot and one of the locations we picked was the desert. the scenery was desolate and cold (although the month was already april). she projected herself to be alone as if she missed someone from faraway land.
