every year is made and rounded up the moments captured through the times we live in. as 2011 closes, i collected bits and pieces of memories from my archives.
unlike other blogs and feeds, i will be featuring more unpublished shots that happened throughout the year. not in particular order, i present the pictures of 2011.
happy new year everyone!

normally, weddings should be simple and sweet. capturing them being happy was inevitable. prior to the big day, the couple asked me to avoid too much sweet shots. we decided to inject some “bonnie and clyde” look and feel. this shot was taken after the couple just finished exchanging vows at the altar. while resting in their hotel room, i looked and saw this vintage decoration of the bed.
a perfect scene where east meets west.

before summer came in 2008, abba asked us to update her model portfolio. it was the first time we collaborated for an outdoor shoot and one of the locations we picked was the desert. the scenery was desolate and cold (although the month was already april). she projected herself to be alone as if she missed someone from faraway land.

few years ago, ibrahim asked me a portrait session for his portfolio work. he was the first emirati i’ve worked with.
he preferred an on-location shoot and we found a construction site of a road interchange. while taking various shots of him with different props and attire, the men in red overalls were passing by. i instantly borrowed their few minutes of time as “props” and asked to sit on a rusty pipe on the wall. due to language barrier, i can’t ask them not to smile. instead, i asked ibrahim to be serious to project contrast.

paula was the first model to be photographed by our group during a fun shoot of camera club of dubai. i was invited by a colleague to give some pointers to their members. although glam and fash was not my cup of tea, i applied a few tricks and experience in portraiture. among the models, her costume was bright and joyful. the color pink would always be a happy one. i decided to challenge myself with a different mood yet with a little seduction.
the solution: location and lighting.
