a two-hour drive from dubai to hatta is not really that long. you wouldn’t realise the time because of the good view enroute to hatta has to offer.

hatta heritage village 1

the hatta heritage village is one of the popular heritage sites in dubai. it dates back to 400 years, after an extensive restoration the site presents a fine example of traditional style village architecture. most of the structures were built by stone, mud, reeds and palm tree trunks.

up in the hill 1

watch tower at hill parkĀ  – nikon d70s, 10mm, f4, 1/1250sec, iso200 it took me a hundred steps just to take a snap of this watch tower situated at the center of hill park. an outcrop of rocks and earth, they turned this place into a recreational area for locals and tourists.

vandalised beauty 0

another interesting area to visit in hatta is the hatta pools. located around 6kms from town centre, it is a group of fissures that runs around the valley. i was impressed by the desolated landscapes and fascinated by its beauty. unfortunately, lots of rubbish were left by campers and vandals painted graffiti in the surrounding areas gave an eyesore.

there are two water reservoirs built around hatta. if you’re into landscape photography, normally, it would be ideal to visit the place in the morning where the sun radiates the mountains.
