over the past few days, we were visiting one of the most beautiful architectural wonders of abu dhabi, the sheikh zayed grand mosque. it never ceases to amaze me from exterior to interior look of the structure. from outside, you will see the obvious: magnificent and geometrically lined-up domes, pillars and arches.

another year has passed and just like any other photographer, we highlight the year in pictures. as we look back, these are bits and pieces that occured for the past twelve months. it has been a quiet year for me in photography but to say at least, still was a blast.
happy new year everyone!

the sheikh zayed mosque also offers a lot of beautiful and interesting patterns and frescoes on its wall. to make most of our visit, i used them as backgrounds for my portraits.

remember the top shot of the dome? that was a bottom section of one of the seven chandeliers of the sheikh zayed mosque. the main chandelier which sits in the central dome measuring 10m diameter and 15.25m in height and weighs 12 tonnes. it was the largest in the world (doha, qatar currently holds the record). these chandeliers are stylish, plated with copper and gold and decorated with 40-million different coloured swarovski crystals lighted by high-power leds.

after the top shot in my previous post, i walked towards the east wing of the main prayer hall. based on various sources, the sheikh zayed grand mosque was described as a fusion of arab, mughal and moorish architecture. the carpet you see in the photo is currently the largest in the world which measures 7,119 m² and weighs 47 tonnes.
